Reunification Readiness Screener
Before you request (or oppose) reunification therapy, know whether the case is clinically ready. Ten questions, a profile, and the motions or clinical steps that follow.
Answer for the case as it stands today. “Unsure” is a valid answer — it points to what to find out.
1.Does the court order name specific goals and a timeline for reunification?
2.Is the parent the child currently lives with willing to participate in sessions?
3.Are there unresolved abuse, neglect, or safety findings involving the rejected parent?
4.Has there been any contact (even supervised) between child and rejected parent in the last 90 days?
5.Does the child have their own individual therapist, separate from the reunification therapist?
6.Is a single, designated reunification therapist named (not “therapy as needed”)?
7.Does the child have a GAL or attorney, or are both parents represented?
8.Are there pending criminal charges or active protective orders between the parents?
9.Do the parents broadly agree on the basic facts of why contact stopped?
10.Is the child currently refusing all contact, including phone or letters?
